Stellantis said it is recalling 1.2 million vehicles in the United States and Canada to fix a software glitch that could cause rearview cameras to stop working.

The recall covers the 2022 and 2023 model year Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs, as well as the 2022 and 2023 Ram ProMaster vans, 2022 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab, and Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups.

Additionally, the 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica minivan, Jeep Grand Cherokee L SUV and 2021 and 2022 Dodge Durango SUVs are also affected.

The company said the vehicles were equipped with over-the-air software that could cause the cameras to accidentally shut down.

Stellantis said it will fix the issue with an online software update that some vehicles have already received. Owners of affected vehicles will see a message on their media screen asking them to accept the update and will also receive a recall notice in the mail.

The company has not reported any injuries or accidents, but is still urging owners to follow the recall instructions.

Stellantis began investigating the matter in October 2023 and reviewed warranty data, field records and customer support records.

The company said it was not aware of any injuries or accidents related to the recall issue.
