HOUSTON – In a decisive Game 7, Stephen Curry scored 14 of his 22 points during the fourth quarter, while Buddy Heald put up 33 points, leading the Golden State Warriors to a 103-89 victory over the Houston Rockets. With this win, the Warriors advanced to the Western Conference semi-finals.
Next up, the Warriors will face the Timberwolves in Minnesota on Tuesday night.
Heald was on fire in the first half, hitting six three-pointers and contributing 22 points to help the Warriors build a 12-point lead. Later, Curry took control, showcasing his signature “Night Night” gesture as the clock wound down on the Rockets.
This victory marked the Warriors’ seventh reaching of the semi-finals, having eliminated Houston in their fifth playoff matchup. They’ve historically sent home four teams led by James Harden from 2015 to 2019.
Heald, with an impressive nine out of 11 from beyond the arc, set a Game 7 record for three-pointers, surpassing the combined total of six out of 18 by the Rockets.
Amen Thompson led Houston with 24 points and helped push the series to this critical Game 7 after two consecutive wins, but ultimately, the experience of the Warriors proved too much.
