Steph Curry is out, but Kristaps Porzingis is expected to play against the Celtics.

The Warriors are gearing up for the upcoming games but will be missing one of their prominent players for their first match after the NBA All-Star break. They are set to face the Celtics on Thursday, and there’s a new addition to the team.

Stephen Curry, who made history as the oldest point guard to start in an NBA All-Star Game at 37, won’t be playing. After returning to the team’s facility on Wednesday night, he informed the training personnel that he couldn’t participate in a live scrimmage due to “runner’s knee.”

Coach Steve Kerr expressed his disappointment, stating, “He wasn’t where he was supposed to be.” He added that more updates would follow after Curry meets with the training staff.

Curry may need another MRI after discussions with Rick Celebrini, the Warriors’ chief medical officer. If he doesn’t play, it will mark his sixth consecutive game missed.

On a brighter note, Kristaps Porzingis, a notable player recently traded from the Hawks, is expected to make his debut on Thursday. He’s officially listed as a “suspect,” but he assured reporters he’s “ready to go.”

Porzingis, 30, was traded for Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga. During his time with the Hawks this season, he averaged 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.29 blocks over 24.3 minutes in 17 games.

Kerr mentioned that Porzingis will likely start off the bench and will have limited playing time in his first game with the Warriors.
