Indiana Fever Coach Discusses Caitlyn Clark’s Injury After Win

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White is dealing with the implications of star guard Caitlyn Clark’s recent injury following their 85-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night. After the game, White addressed reporters about the physical challenges Clark has been facing throughout the season, particularly during this match.

When asked about the “physical battles,” White referenced her experience as both an opponent and a coach, noting, “There’s a level of physicality that they can play against her.” She expressed her belief that Clark must learn to leverage this physicality, turning it into an advantage on the court. White emphasized the need for adjustments: “We have to help her learn to adjust and use it against them in a certain way. We have to find a way to make it a little easier for her.”

White also commented on the overall increase in physical play across the WNBA, saying, “The league’s overall physicality level is at a different level than it was for a long time.”

In a lighter moment, when asked if reporters were trying to fine her, White laughed and reassured them. “I’ll send it to you,” she said playfully.

Clark appeared to be reassessing her injury later in the game, as she was seen leaving the court visibly upset. She had been injured while making a play and was in tears as she was helped to the bench.

Wednesday morning’s team update indicated that Clark is now suspected to have a groin injury. The Fever are set to face the New York Liberty at 7:30 PM in Brooklyn.
