Stephen A. Smith Considers Presidential Run Amid Knicks Changes

During Wednesday’s episode of “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith posed a significant question regarding his own future, hinting at the possibility of running for president. He touched on various pressing political issues that are currently making headlines. In the sports realm, this comes on the heels of the New York Knicks parting ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau, leaving the position open.

Interestingly, Smith expressed hesitation about working under Knicks owner James Dolan, stating that he’d prefer to take on the role of president over coaching the basketball team.

Chris Russo, often known as “Mad Dog,” humorously questioned whether Smith could navigate complex issues like the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Smith, in a light-hearted manner, stated, “I will not try to negotiate that. I will work with the European Union and the United Nations.” His focus seemed to be on empowering nations, although he acknowledged a need for careful financial support regarding Ukraine.

Russo, while praising Smith’s insights, suggested he should perhaps tread lightly in the political arena. Back in April, Smith had indicated he felt compelled to consider a presidential bid, claiming, “I have no choice.” He hinted at connections with influential individuals and the support he could rally in backing a potential campaign.

The landscape is changing not just in sports but also in politics, and it seems Smith is contemplating his role in that broader discussion.
