The 2028 presidential election season is far and far away. But Stephen A. Smith, ESPN's infamous hot take artist, has already decided whether he'll run or not.
Last month's poll showed Smith tracked former Democrat vice president Tim Waltz in the field of potential Democratic nods in 2028.
However, ESPN talker say TMZ Sports He has no interest in running.
“I'm not trying to run for the office or anything,” Smith told an outlet in New Orleans last week. “I love talking about politics. I love talking about things, not just sports. If Americans want to sit there and say, 'Yo-Yo, Stephen A.'', then I'll go, Don't get mad at that.
“I don't know what they're thinking. I'm not qualified, but if you want to go ahead and entertain it, you can entertain it.”
Quoting President Trump's lack of political experience before he won the presidency, Smith said, “Because if he becomes president, many of us could become president.”
Of course, President Trump discussed in 2016 and showed that he had a thorough grasp of the issue while ultimately defeating the field of 16 veteran politicians. He again forced the Democrats to retire Joe Biden after eight years and to defeat the chosen alternative completely. So just because Trump had no experience doesn't necessarily mean “many of us” will become president.
Nevertheless, Smith, who describes himself as a political “centrist,” will be harder to run for an increasingly unpopular Democrat nomination. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Smith broke up with mainstream Dem saying he opposes allowing trans athletes to compete in women's sports.
Smith's view on the issue lines him with 79% of Americans.
That's usually a good thing. The only problem is that almost all 21% who authorize trans athletes to compete with women are Democrats.
