Stephen A. Smith: Trump 'speaks a lot of folks' language,' but Harris going to win

Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith shared his thoughts on the current state of the presidential election, saying that while former President Trump “speaks the language of the common man,” he predicts Vice President Harris will win the November election.

When asked by CNN's Chris Wallace why the former president seems to be winning over young black voters, particularly men, Smith pointed to the trust issues many people have with lawmakers.

“I think this is a combination of disgust and lack of trust that not just black men but a lot of people in America have toward Congress,” Smith said in an interview on “Who's Talking to Chris Wallace.”

“The thing about Donald Trump is, he speaks the language of the masses,” he continued. “People don't really care about the message. They care about how he delivers the message, because he delivers the message the way they want it delivered to Congress.”

Still, he said, the Republican candidate's straight-talking style and rhetoric could act as a deterrent to moderate and undecided voters, leaving room for Harris to swoop in and win those votes.

“I really think she's going to win this election because I think if we can get past the extremists on the far right and the far left and get to the center, then ultimately people are going to look at her and, regardless of what they're saying about her, they're going to look at her and say, 'I can work with her,'” he said.

Smith then added that not many people want to “relive” what happened after the 2020 election, presumably referring to the former president's efforts to remain in power.

“Not many people are going to remember what American streets looked like when Trump left office in 2020,” the commentator told Wallace.

“And I think that virtue is what will propel her to the presidency,” he added.
