Stephen Colbert is An interview with CNN host Kaitlan Collins on a late-night Monday show.
Collins offered her opinion on why former President Donald Trump is struggling to take on Vice President Kamala Harris now that President Joe Biden is no longer running for a second term.
Many of CNN’s staff and talent have almost openly rebelled against Licht’s attempts to return the network to its roots of impartial reporting.
“Trump is very confused about this and doesn’t really know how to attack VP Harris. He knew his attack line against President Biden. He’s really struggling with how to attack someone who is 20 years younger than him, a different gender and a different race. He just hasn’t been able to come up with a line of attack right now,” Collins said.
“I know you guys are objective and I know you report the news as it is,” Colbert said, but the live studio audience laughed at the remark, to the surprise of both him and Collins.
“Are those laugh lines?” asked Mr Collins.
“I don’t know if that’s supposed to happen, but I guess it is,” Colbert joked.
It’s worth recalling that after CNN gained a notorious reputation for being biased against Trump, and against conservatives in general, under former leader Jeff Zucker, Chris Licht had a brief tenure as head of CNN following Zucker’s resignation. Many of CNN’s staff and talent almost openly rebelled against Licht’s attempts to return the network to its roots of unbiased reporting. When it became clear that CNN’s rank-and-file did not believe that their biased journalism was part of the problem that had caused the network to lose credibility, Licht resigned.
