Stephen King removed a post alleging that Charlie Kirk endorsed 'stoning gays to death'

Stephen King’s Controversial Remarks Spark Backlash

Stephen King, the renowned horror novelist, recently found himself in hot water after a reaction to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk drew considerable criticism.

On the day of the incident, Fox News Host Jesse Watters took to X to express his views, stating, “Charlie Kirk wasn’t the ‘controversial’ man. Charlie was a patriot.” King’s response was blunt: “He only killed a gay. I just said that.”

This remark did not sit well with many, including conservative commentator Dave Rubin, who pointed out that Kirk had always treated him and his husband with respect despite their differences. He responded to King with a sharp message on social media, remarking, “Hey @Stephenking, you’re more monster than the character you’ve ever come up with.” Rubin noted they had shared meals with Kirk, who had even visited their home.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, chimed in but kept it brief, mentioning King’s fiction-writing background. Meanwhile, Senator Mike Lee from Utah suggested that Kirk’s estate should consider legal action against King for defamation, saying, “He crossed the line. It proves it’s expensive.”

Senator Ted Cruz echoed Lee’s sentiments, calling King a “scary, evil, twisted liar” and questioned his motivations, wondering, “Why are you so cheating and hatred?”

The following day, King took to the platform to apologize after facing significant backlash from both sides of the aisle. His initial tweet was labeled a mistake as he expressed regret for his words. “The scary, evil, twisted liars apologize. It’s never going to happen again,” he stated.

Further clarifying, King referenced his previous comments about Kirk, claiming they were taken out of context and reiterated that he regretted the statement regarding stoning gay individuals based on biblical passages.

However, Representative Anna Paulina Luna from Florida rejected King’s apology, asserting that Kirk fostered open dialogue for LGBTQ+ individuals in the Republican Party. She challenged King to reflect on his remarks and noted that his comments post-assassination were more alarming than anything he had written.

In a response to King’s apology, Senator Cruz expressed gratitude, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect across political divides. “Charlie did that every day, and I admired him,” he said.
