Team USA gymnast Steven Nedorosik liked a lot of things about his 2024 Olympic experience, except for the controversial cardboard bed.
Speaking to The Associated Press, Nedrosic, who rose to fame as “the pommel horse man” after winning a bronze medal in the team final at the Paris Olympics, detailed why the furniture was simply “okay.”
“First of all, I love the Olympic Village. The facilities are amazing,” he said in a video posted to social media. “The bed itself is… ok. It’s fine.”
Nedorosic, 25, added that Olympic organizers had done their best to accommodate the number of athletes taking part in the games, but they decided to make some changes to the sleeping arrangements.
“They did a good job again. [the bed is] “It’s washable. It’s made entirely from recycled materials, which is really cool to see, but unfortunately you’re definitely going to need to buy a mattress topper. Sorry, guys,” Nedorosic said with a laugh.
Although Paris is known as the “City of Love,” the bed was reportedly built to prevent any sexual activity.
The twin size bed barely provided enough space for multiple people to sleep comfortably.
Nedorosic, who has been in a relationship with girlfriend Tess McCracken for more than eight years, became a national Olympic hero last week with his incredible pommel horse routine in the team final, earning him 14.866 points.
The Massachusetts native was seen with his eyes closed while preparing for the event, which became a viral meme.

“If I’d nailed the set I would have won the medal and everybody was jumping up and down and I was like, ‘I did it!'” Nedorosic said. “And then everybody lifted me up. Oh man, that’s a memory that’s gonna stick in my mind forever.”
Nedorosic’s outstanding performance led the U.S. team to its first medal at the tournament since 2008.
He then won the bronze medal in Saturday’s pommel horse final.
