Stephen Sondheim’s Connecticut home sells for $3.25M

The Broadway legend’s longtime rural retreat has sold for the full asking price of $3.25 million.

Less than six months after going on the market for the first time in more than 39 years, the late Stephen Sondheim’s nine-acre home in Roxbury, Conn., has a new owner, The Post has learned. . However, the identity of the new owner is not immediately known.

Although the historic home was only traded this week, listing broker Klemm Real Estate was “able to source a buyer for this stunning property within 12 days of listing,” according to a press release.

The composer of “Gypsy” and “A Strange Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” owned the 3,700-square-foot home for nearly 40 years until his death in 2021 at age 91.

Built around 1792, the mansion is located on a “quiet, whispering country lane,” and has been “lovingly restored and expanded under Mr. Sondheim’s watch,” Mr. Clemm said.
