Stetson Bennett back with Rams after mysterious absence

Stetson Bennett returns to work with the Rams.

The two-time national champion quarterback was added to the team’s offseason program after missing most of his rookie season after being placed on the reserve/non-football injured list in September, according to head coach Sean McVay. He is said to be participating.

The Rams signed former Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a one-year deal in March after a one-season stint in Las Vegas failed.

Bennett attends Rams team meetings and does weight training as part of his offseason program.

Bennett’s road to the NFL has been rocky since he was arrested for public intoxication in Dallas in January 2023.

The incident occurred shortly after Georgia State vs. TCU won the national title that same month.

It was suspected that the issue could affect Stetson’s draft stock.

“It was a mistake that everyone was aware of,” Bennett told the media about the arrest at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.

“I understand why it doesn’t happen. I’ve talked to the coach and the GM about it. I’ve apologized to the family. I felt worse for the guy. Where are you now?” I also felt like I let them down. [people are going to know about it]”

Ultimately, the Rams selected Bennett with the 128th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
