University of Nevada coach Steve Alford also couldn’t protect himself from his former players.
Neither was his hair.
Alford College’s 10th-seeded Wolf Pack looked to be on a roll and upset No. 7 Dayton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, but suffered the worst collapse in March Madness history, 63-6. Lost by 60.
Alford coached at UCLA before being fired and taking the position at Nevada, but former Bruins player Tony Parker (of the Spurs) played under Alford for three of his four seasons with the team. Torn apart by (not a legend).
“Steve Alford is one of the worst coaches in college basketball history, he’s the worst, he’s had the same hairstyle for 40 years, the hairspray must have cooked his brain.” [sic]”hoodie Posted in X.
Nevada led by 17 points before Dayton stormed back with a 24-4 run with 7 minutes, 14 seconds left to cap the biggest NCAA Tournament upset since 2018.
“The last seven minutes were a really bad offense,” Alford, who was an All-American as a player at Indiana University, said after the game. “We defended very poorly. If you do that at this stage, you probably won’t win much. That’s what actually happened tonight.”
Parker then worked with Dan Dakich, who previously coached at Bowling Green and Indiana and currently works at Outkick.
“How can a fat underachiever criticize a national champion? What a wonderful world we live in.” Dakich Posted in reply to Parker.
Then Parker shot back.

“I hurt your feelings, dude, we can hook up and talk about it, bro, bring your buddy too.” [sic],” Parker featured.
Dakich immediately fired back.
“‘Lil bro, bring your buddy too’?? Oh my god, what an idiot, what about the fat guy? Seriously…the illiterate, fat ex-player is the best.” Posted by Dakic.
Parker went undrafted and played briefly in the G League before playing professionally in Mexico.
