Steve Bannon was incarcerated at a federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, on Monday to begin serving a four-month sentence for failing to comply with a subpoena from a House committee investigating the January 6 presidential election.Number Protests at the US Capitol.

Bannon arrived at the federal prison in Danbury and was then formally taken into custody.
In a speech before his prison sentence, Bannon was a vocal critic of Attorney General Merrick Garland, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Joe Biden.
“I’m proud to go to prison,” Bannon told supporters and protesters before entering the prison on Monday. “If this is what it takes to stand up to tyranny. If this is what it takes to stand up to Garland’s corrupt and criminal Department of Justice. If this is what it takes to stand up to Nancy Pelosi. If this is what it takes to stand up to Joe Biden, then I’m proud.”
When asked what he expected to see in the coming months, Bannon replied, “A Trump victory.”
This comes after Bannon filed an emergency petition with the Supreme Court last month after a federal appeals court rejected his request to avoid prison time for contempt of Congress. The U.S. Supreme Court also rejected his petition.
Bannon was convicted of two counts of contempt of Congress two years ago and sentenced to four months in prison in October 2022. Since then, with his legal team frantically exploring the possibility of a delay or appeal, Bannon appears to have exhausted all his options.
Bannon’s prison sentence also reportedly stems from his failure to comply with a House committee subpoena from congressional investigators seeking communications with former President Donald Trump after the 2020 presidential election.
Bannon is expected to be released by November.
