Alex Cohen Addresses Mets Fans After Season

Following a disappointing end to the season, Alex Cohen, the wife of Mets owner Steve Cohen, shared an emotional message with fans, announcing changes to her social media presence.

She stated that she will stop posting on her Instagram account @tiaalexnymets and will deactivate her Mets email account.

“This season didn’t wrap up the way we all hoped. We feel the disappointment of not making the playoffs, just like you,” Cohen expressed. “Still, our faith in this team is stronger than ever.

“Above all, we are incredibly grateful to you, our fans. Your enthusiasm, energy, and unfaltering support have carried us through both the highs and the lows. This team means more than just baseball to us.

“As we head into the offseason, I plan to take a step back from social media and recharge. I’m focused on the work for fans and can’t wait to reconnect come spring.”

“I will also be shutting down my Tia Alex emails. I initially set it up to stay connected with you, but it has turned into just another channel for the same messages you’ve already sent. This choice comes from a desire for respect and balance.

“Thank you for being with us this season. We’ll return feeling stronger and more driven than ever. Until then, I’ll keep believing, cheering, and appreciating you.”

Active on social media, Cohen often uses her platform to engage with fans since her husband took ownership of the team in November 2020. Her Instagram gives followers a glimpse into the owner’s life, while her email allowed for direct fan communication.

While her recent post didn’t reference a surge of negative emails, it comes after the Mets experienced one of the most disappointing regular seasons in their history.

Despite signing Juan Soto to a record contract and seeming like a playoff contender mid-season, the Mets failed to secure a playoff spot.

Steve Cohen also conveyed a similar sentiment to fans after losing a playoff position to the Reds, who have a significant payroll of $119 million.

“To Mets fans everywhere, I apologize,” he stated in a post. “You did your part by supporting the team. We didn’t do ours. We’ll look into the reasons why the team didn’t meet expectations.”

“Today, we’re all feeling some intense emotions. We understand how much you invest in this team. The outcome was just not acceptable. Your feelings remind us of how much you care and motivate us to improve. Thank you to the best fans in the sport.”
