Speaking about “The Travis Hunter Show,” Newton spoke about the pressure to be the No. 1 overall pick in 2011, and trained the “losers” who took part in 2011. 2-14.

“My problem is, when I was my first pick, I went into the loser's locker room,” Newton said. “The guy didn't know how to win…not everyone can influence players.”

Now, Panthers legend and former superstar receiver Steve Smith caught the whims of Newton's comment, but he wasn't happy. Smith and Newton played together for three years at Carolina.

“None of us is perfect. Yes, we were 2-14 before you bless us. [with your] Front of the audience. How you spoke [The Panthers] I've been extremely disappointed recently,” Smith tweeted.
