Steve Smith fires back at Cam Newton over ‘losers’ comments
Cam Newton has hurt his feelings in the past by the Carolina Panthers – and now he's throwing shade at his “loser” former Panther teammate.
Newton, the No. 1 NFL Draft in 2011, recently appeared on the potential 2025 top pick Travis Hunter's Podcast, discussing what's like being on the draft board.
Newton had no trouble airing what he disliked about being first taken to a 2-14 Carolina team in 2011.
“My problem is, when I was the first pick, I went into the loser's locker room.” Newton said. “The guy didn't know how to win. Not everyone has the ability to influence players.”
Among those “loser locker rooms” were players like Steve Smith Sr., Thomas Davis, Greg Olsen and many others, despite what Newton said.
Smith took an exception to Newton's comment.
“None of us is perfect. Yes, we were 2-14 before you bless us. [with your] In front of me, Smith wrote on x. “The way you spoke [The Panthers] I've been very disappointed lately. ”
Smith has the right to be upset.

In three seasons together, Newton and Smith linked 3,313 yards and 15 touchdowns. Veteran Smith provided satisfactory support to the then-quarterback in his first few seasons in the league.
Although he hasn't made a cut yet, Smith was one day able to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Davis and Olsen are eligible for election next season.
Newton's comments could be a prediction of his complaints about the Panthers organization that sought to “eliminate” his legacy.
Newton is the only Panther to win an MVP award for the second time in history to play the team in the Super Bowl.
Nevertheless, he insists that the franchise will no longer “f-k.”
