Taylor Swift Responds to Critics Suggesting She Step Back

Taylor Swift recently addressed critics who think it’s time for her to retreat from the limelight. During an interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the 35-year-old artist shared her thoughts on longevity in the industry and the importance of personal relationships.

“Careers, friendships, and relationships all have the potential to last longer,” she noted. She expressed a desire to keep making meaningful contributions, mentioning that some people seem to advocate for a period of silence, urging figures like her to take a break. “But I’m not keen on doing that,” she said.

Swift shared that she has three go-to individuals for advice: music icon Stevie Nicks, producer Max Martin, and her fiancé, NFL player Travis Kelce. “I can talk to him about anything,” she explained.

Reflecting on her past year, Swift described 2025 as a particularly good time for her, feeling grateful for both her engagement to Kelce and the return of her music masters. “These two things—getting engaged and reclaiming my music—couldn’t have been guaranteed,” she shared, emphasizing her gratitude toward her fans for supporting her journey.

Swift also recalled how she and Kelce became engaged. They shared a post on Instagram featuring a romantic proposal that highlighted their distinctively playful love story.

The “Eras” tour, a monumental venture for Swift, spanned nearly two years and saw her performing on five continents. Despite facing health issues, like gastroenteritis, she managed to deliver memorable performances. “My aim was to keep that under wraps,” she admitted, explaining how she felt drained yet invigorated after each show.

To unwind, Swift revealed her post-show routine includes ordering room service, taking a bath, and indulging in crime documentaries. “Afterward, I just want to hit reset,” she said, adding that she enjoys listening to audiobooks that often revolve around suspenseful themes.
