Students at Liberty University Come Together in Prayer Following Kirk's Assassination

Students Pray at Liberty University After Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

On Wednesday, hundreds of students gathered at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, to pray following the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA. They formed small clusters, holding each other and offering prayers after hearing about the grim news.

“We’re here to honor Charlie Kirk and pray for him, our nation, and justice,” one student mentioned. “He has inspired many, and there’s so much more to come that the world hasn’t yet seen.”

Kirk was fatally shot while addressing a large crowd at Utah Valley University, a situation described by some as a political assassination, according to reports.

Additional footage from Liberty University revealed students kneeling in prayer for Kirk’s family and the country. A pastor led the prayers, supported by the entire student body. “Even on challenging days, God will be praised,” one social media post noted, highlighting the students singing worship songs together.

Turning Point USA confirmed Kirk’s death on Wednesday afternoon, stating he was shot during the organization’s “America Comeback Tour.” A heartfelt message shared on their platform expressed hope that he finds peace with the Savior who endured suffering and sacrifice.

In a statement addressing the incident, Trump remarked that Kirk’s assassination marked “a dark moment in America.” He conveyed his deep sorrow and frustration about the brutal act, emphasizing Kirk’s influence on millions and the unity of those who loved him amid shock and horror.

Trump added, “Charlie was a champion for truth and freedom. He was deeply respected from a young age. He had a strong faith, and we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace with God. Our prayers are with his wife, Erica, their two beloved children, and his entire family.”
