‘Subhuman ghouls’: Individuals criticize Scott Adams shortly after his passing

Scott Adams Passes Away Amid Controversy

Scott Adams, the creator of the well-known comic strip “Dilbert,” died on Tuesday after a prolonged struggle with metastatic prostate cancer. Following the news of his passing, some media personalities wasted no time in criticizing his legacy.

The announcement of Adams’ death was met with an online article from People magazine titled “Scott Adams Disgraced,” which claimed he disparaged Black individuals in a rant earlier this year.

Initially published at 10:47 AM ET, the article’s authorship was attributed to Victoria Edel, although it was later updated to reflect “People Staff” as the writer.

In the wake of these headlines, numerous users on X expressed their distaste for the way the news was reported. One Blaze TV host called out the article, denouncing it as distasteful.

The original post on X from People was also modified, indicating that it had removed its promotional materials related to the article.

Other news outlets, like the Washington Post and Boston Globe, didn’t shy away from including their own criticisms. Their headlines labeled Adams as “a racist” and referred to his views as part of a far-right commentary.

In one article, Adams was described not just as the voice of “Dilbert” but as a provocateur who had cultivated a controversial presence in right-wing media, especially concerning race and politics during the Trump era.

The criticisms highlighted comments Adams made about a Rasmussen poll that measured how Black Americans view the statement that “It’s okay to be white.” He expressed strong disagreement with what he perceived as widespread negativity towards Caucasians in the Black community, suggesting that this behavior indicated a “hate group.” Interestingly, he also urged people to remain friendly and distanced from potential conflict, though that aspect seemed overlooked by detractors.
