London restaurant The Ledbelly has been awarded a three-star “Great Achievement” rating in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland.
Notting Hill restaurant becomes the sixth in the capital to win the guide’s highest accolade, with Gymkhana one of only two Indian restaurants in the UK to be awarded two stars, along with Birmingham’s Orpheum It became.
Unveiling its latest guide at a ceremony in Manchester on Monday night, Michelin said Ledbury’s three stars were a “huge achievement”, “the highest of gastronomic honors” and “not given lightly”. Not,” he said.
“The kitchen team, led by Brett Graham, demonstrates technical mastery across the dishes, using ingredients of unparalleled quality to deliver sublime flavour.
“Each sip has a considerable depth of flavor, and the consistently harmonious combinations demonstrate originality.”
Opened in 2023 by hospitality group JKS, Gymkhana is known for its Munjak Biryani, Lamb Chop and Salmon Tikka and is the latest in a line of fine Indian restaurants in the city.
The judges described Gymkhana as being “primarily based on traditional Indian recipes, exquisitely perfected by the chefs,” and said, “The detail and precision that goes into the dishes is a solid two-star level, and overall It has a perfect balance of spices.”
Described by owner-chef Akhtar Islam as “progressive Indian cuisine,” Orfem offers “very original cuisine that maintains the core of Indian cuisine but adds elements that are more modern than Gymkhana.” Michelin said.
It added: “Each piece shows sophistication and depth of flavor while demonstrating the great culinary knowledge incorporated into such complementary flavor and texture combinations.”
Elsewhere in London, Tribbett was promoted from one star to two stars for its “flavoursome and technically excellent cooking by Johnny Lake and his team”, but at the exclusive Peninsula Hotel Brooklands remained in the guide with two stars.
The Glenturret Lalique in Crieff has become Scotland’s second two-star restaurant. Housed in a working distillery, it “boasts not only a fantastic selection of whisky, but also precise and sophisticated cooking from the kitchen team, led by Chef Mark Donald,” the judges said.
