An Illinois man has been arrested and charged with murdering his wife after he shot her six times in their home.
Around 11:00 a.m. on September 5, officers from the Warrenville Police Department responded to the home of Steven Kramer (39) on reports of cardiac arrest and death. Police revealed this.
When officers arrived at the home, Kramer greeted them at the front door and told them his wife, Jamie Newman, 47, was in an upstairs bedroom in the home.
Officers went up to the bedroom and found the victim lying on the ground, face up, in front of the foot of the bed, with blood on his face and body and obvious trauma to his face.
Newman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said an autopsy revealed that Newman had been shot six times: between the left eye and nose, three times in the chest, once in the upper left thigh and once in the right forearm.
Police said their investigation revealed the couple had been involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation, leading to Kramer shooting and killing Newman.
Their 4-year-old daughter was at home at the time of the shooting, in Chicago. Daily Herald Reported.
Kramer turned himself in to the Warrenville Police Department and was taken into custody a short time later.
“Our hearts go out to Jayme's family and friends as they grieve, especially her children who are now forced to live without the love and support that only a mother can provide,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said. “While there is nothing we can do to return Jayme to her loved ones, thanks to the incredible work of the Warrenville Police Department we are able to vigorously prosecute the man who allegedly took her life.”

Kramer has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, police said.
A DuPage County judge ruled Wednesday that the defendants will remain in jail while they await trial.
“The actions taken by Mr. Kramer are unthinkable. His family has been permanently scarred and his children have lost their mother,” Warrenville Police Chief Sam Bonilla said.

“Jamie was loved by all who knew her and leaving her daughters behind was something she would never have chosen. Sadly, her life was cut short by domestic violence and she left all of her daughters orphaned,” the group Devoted Mothers wrote on Twitter. Kramer's next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 7, 2024 for arraignment.
