Subway CEO retiring at end of year

Sandwich chain Subway announced Tuesday that Chief Executive Officer John Chidsey will retire at the end of the year.

“It's been an honor to lead Subway during a period of exciting change, and I'm so proud of what our team has accomplished together,” he said in a statement.

Chissy has served as CEO since 2019, making him the first person outside of Subway's founding family to do so.

For example, the company implemented a series of ingredient updates in 2021. A year later, the “Subway Series'' menu was announced.

Last year, Subway introduced deli slicers and freshly sliced meats to its restaurants.

Upon stepping down as CEO, Chissey will consult with Subway “with a particular focus on guiding the company's international growth strategy and building relationships with franchisees.”
