Subway rider stabbed while defending woman harassed in Bronx

A subway passenger who tried to help a woman who had been harassed overnight at a Bronx station was stabbed, police said. It came just hours after the National Guard was called in as part of a frantic new anti-crime effort against the city’s troubled transportation system.

Police said the latest underground attack was reported at 12:50 a.m. at the Pelham Parkway Station on Lines 2 and 5.

According to the NYPD, a 53-year-old man got off a northbound train and saw two men, one wearing red and the other wearing blue, harassing a woman. He said he witnessed it.

Police said a good Samaritan intervened to help the woman, but was stabbed in the right hand.

The victim was taken to Montefiore Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

Police said the suspects fled the subway station and fled in a white car.

The riots came after Gov. Cathy Hochul suddenly announced plans to send 1,000 National Guard, state police and MTA troopers to search commuters’ bags on the city’s crime-prone subways. Ta.
