116 pages of new stopgap funding invoiceThe resolution, known as the Continuing Resolution (CR), is a slimmed-down version of the previous spending package, which totaled more than 1,500 pages. The new CR includes a one-year extension of the Farm Bill and $110 billion in disaster relief for victims of Hurricanes Milton and Helen. Provisions of the old CR, such as raising salaries for members of Congress, limiting U.S. investment in China, and allowing year-round sales of E15 gasoline, have been removed in the new version. The House could vote on the bill as early as Thursday night under a suspension of rules, requiring a two-thirds majority to pass the spending package and the debt ceiling increase.
Several members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus have vowed to vote against the new CR.
