‘such a hole in our family’

Treat Williams' family is 'working through' the sudden and tragic loss of her husband and father.

Pam Williams and the couple's two children, Gil Williams and Ellie Williams, told People magazine that they are still trying to cope with Treat's death. The “Blue Bloods” actor died in a car accident in Dorset, Vermont, in June. He was 71 years old.

“It happened so suddenly that I don't think there was any preparation. So I'm still struggling with the fact that it happened and that he's really gone.” Pam told the media. “It feels like a huge hole has been opened in the fabric of our family and the world. The whole atmosphere feels different.”

Pam and Treat first met in 1987 when she was a waitress at the now-closed Texarkana in New York City.

“He was completely smitten with me and asked me to marry him two weeks later,” Pam said. “It was a magical meeting.”

The couple married in 1988 and welcomed their first child, Gil, four years later in 1992 and daughter Ellie in 1998. The family lived in Vermont.

Both Ellie and Gil credit their late father for their interest in art. According to the outlet, Ellie is currently pursuing an acting career in Los Angeles, while Gil is active as a musician.

“He helped me gain confidence in my talent. I was a shy singer for a long time and he came up to me and said, 'I can't hear you,'” Gill said. .

Ellie shared fond memories of the moment she realized she wanted to grow up to be like her father.

“When I was four years old, I started going to the filming of 'Everwood' with my dad and fell in love with the craft,” she said. “You build a great, close-knit group of people, a family, great friendships. It's a beautiful thing.”

Gil showed glimpses of Treat's personality off-screen.

“He was very self-paced and very much a child at heart,” he said.

Ellie said: “He's that guy, that dad, who's with you in public places and shops and stuff and starts dancing and looks at you and looks into your soul. He's like, 'What? If I embarrass you?' Are you there? Won’t you dance with me?”

Outside of Treat's acting career, the “Everwood” star was a pilot and enjoyed flying helicopters and single-engine and twin-engine planes, according to People magazine.

Sometimes his friends and family would join him on his rides.

“For the rest of his life he felt like he didn't have a lot of control, but up until this point he felt like he was completely in control,” Ellie told the magazine. “It was the only place he could be free.”

Williams' family described Treat as a “giver.” They told the outlet that he frequently auctions off free airline tickets for charity, donates money to residents whose homes have burned down, and frequently lunches with a nearby motel owner who is battling cancer. Now, the family is keeping Treat's spirit alive by rewatching his old works.

“He left this beautiful legacy. When your parents are artists, especially when your parents are as prolific as he is, that's very fortunate for you, because in many ways through that Because I can still be with them,” Gill said. “His heart and soul is really present in every piece, even if it's just a character.”

It continued to be difficult for Ellie to understand that her father would not be able to watch her future unfold.

“It's really, really hard not having him around to see me grow as a person, have a career, walk down the aisle, have a husband and kids, all the big events in the future,” she said. Told. “But every day is a new day and I try to live as fully as I can for him.”
