Sun limit Caitlin Clark to just 10 points as Fever already lose 10th game

UNCASVILLE, Conn. — DiJonai Carrington scored a season-high 22 points, DeWanna Bonner added 17 and the Connecticut Suns beat the Indiana Fever 89-72 on Monday night to win their 11th straight series victory.

Connecticut (10-1), which has three wins against Indiana (3-10) this season, hasn’t lost to the Fever since July 3, 2021.

The Suns became just the second team in the WNBA to win 10 games this season, while the Fever became just the second team to lose 10 games.

Indiana star Caitlin Clark finished with 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field, her fourth-lowest total of the season, and all of that came in the first half.

She picked up her fourth foul with 4:41 left in the third quarter and did not play in the final period.

Connecticut fans were chanting “We want Kaitlyn! We want Kaitlyn!” midway through the fourth quarter.

Clark lost the ball near midcourt and Carrington ran the other way and drained a layup just before the halftime buzzer to give Connecticut a 55-35 lead.

The Sun finished the first half with a 16-4 lead.

Connecticut opened the third quarter with a 14-6 surge to extend its lead to 69-41.

Tayshia Harris and Breonna Jones added 11 points apiece for Connecticut, fresh off an 82-75 loss to New York on Saturday.

Tiffany Mitchell added 10 points and Alyssa Thomas had seven points, 18 rebounds and seven assists. Thomas’ only triple-double this season came in the season opener against the Fever.

Aliyah Boston recorded her second double-double of the season for Indiana with 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.

Lexi Hull came off the bench and added 10 points.

Connecticut begins its first two-game road trip of the season on Wednesday against Chicago.
