Sunday shows preview: Fault lines deepen after Trump-Zelensky clash; DOGE cuts endure

President Trump's public dispute with Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky has halted hopes for a signed mineral agreement, splitting the world and Washington for support for Republicans or heads of state within their oval offices.

As the turbulent meeting took place in real time on Friday, GOP leaders praised Trump for his harsh stance on the Ukrainian government's hesitantness to enter a peace deal in the war with Russia without “security guarantees.” Meanwhile, Democrats denounced the president, claiming he was protecting Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump's former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will discuss the history of our involvement in previous negotiations as Ukrainian ally when he appeared on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures.

White House national security adviser Mike Waltz will be looking forward to future U.S. ties with Ukraine after Trump and Zelensky got into the air debate when he appeared in CNN's “The State of the Union.” He may also discuss the long-standing developments of the president's much-anticipated Putin Conference face to face.

Kaja Karas, the top European Union diplomat, slammed CBS News' Face the Nation and called on Trump and Vance to intervene in Europe after the clash, saying “the free world needs a new leader.”

Foreign conflicts controlled headlines this week, but the firing of federal employees sparked county-wide discourse about efforts led by the government's efficiency in reducing the federal government and its workforce.

Some Republicans are considering including additional cuts in future government funding bills in an effort to solidify Trump's agenda.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) could deal with the fight to ensure the successful passage of legislation needed to prevent government shutdowns on March 14 with two levelled appearances on CNN's “The State of the Union” and NBC's “Meet the Press.”
