Sunday shows preview: Trump surpasses 100 days; GOP budget, Ukraine deal draw mixed reactions

President Trump has marked his first 100 days in office as Congress returns to tackle his proposed agenda amid ongoing economic strain.

His administration’s tariff proposals have led to a decline in consumer confidence, shaking the global economy. On Friday, the president unveiled his budget plan, which features significant cuts to non-defense spending, drawing criticism from Democrats and raising alarms among GOP defense advocates.

Russell Vote, the head of the Office of Management and Budget, urged Congress to maintain defense spending at $893 billion, hoping to enhance it later through a settlement bill.

During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Trump is expected to recap his first quarter in office and detail his budget proposals, all while navigating some internal party divisions.

This week, Trump also generated buzz over his attempts to cut federal funding for public media. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has contended that his executive order oversteps legal boundaries.

Katherine Maher, NPR’s CEO, alongside PBS’s Paula Kerger, may discuss this move in their Sunday interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

The two will also be joined by Ukrainian ambassador Oksana Markarova, among others, to address a recent deal between Ukraine and the U.S. concerning access to Eastern Europe’s natural resources, which has raised questions about loyalty to the MAGA agenda.

Following this agreement, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz was set to vacate his role, but Trump has since nominated him as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) has been noted amid concerns regarding the Republican majority in the House.

New York Republicans might discuss unexpected shifts in strategy during their appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” with speculation about Stefanik potentially running for governor.
