Suns land Nick Richards in trade with Hornets

The Knicks can take one potential trade target off their list for now.

The Suns acquired center Nick Richards in a trade with the Hornets on Wednesday. According to multiple reports.

Phoenix also received a 2026 second-round pick and a 2031 third-round pick in the deal, while Charlotte received a 2025 second-round pick.

The 7-footer has provided the Hornets with strong depth this season, averaging 8.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21 minutes per game.

He will join a Suns team that is 19-20 and in 11th place in the Western Conference heading into the playoffs.

Richards was considered a potential target for the Knicks back in September, before they acquired Karl-Anthony Towns from the Timberwolves. SNY reported.

The Knicks are without a solid big man this season after Isaiah Hartenstein left the Thunder for a three-year, $87 million deal.

Karl-Anthony Towns himself has suffered a thumb sprain and bone fragments, while Mitchell Robinson has yet to play in a game this season after recovering from ankle surgery.

However, head coach Tom Thibodeau said Robinson is on track to practice in January.

Jericho Sims (23 minutes) and Precious Achiuwa (30 minutes) split time in Wednesday's overtime win over the 76ers.

The two combined for 18 points and 13 rebounds.

However, the Post's Stephen Bondy reported earlier this week that Sims is being bought out before the Feb. 6 trade deadline, even though the team is actively working to improve its frontcourt.
