(Nexstar) – Millions will be tuned to Super Bowl LIX for games and ads on Sunday, but Kendrick Lamar's halftime show: there may be another focus.
Grammy Award-winning rapper It was announced in September that he had landed the coveted gig.wanted viewers to be “uplifted” for performances and encouraged them to “wear your best dress” even when tuning from home.
The rap megastar, who secured a Grammy Award for Song of the Year with a Diss track called “Not Like Us,” earlier this month, looks forward to bringing hip-hop to the NFL championship game previously.
We also know he's not alone: fellow Grammy Award winner SZA Join Lamar during a halftime performance. They share multiple hits, including “All Stars” and “Doves in the Wind.” SZA also appeared in Lamar's latest albums, “Gnx,” “Luther,” and “Gloria.” Lamar appeared on SZA's 2024 album SOS Deluxe: Lana, 30 For 30. ” (Pair is I'll go on a tour too this year. )
So when will Lamar and SZA take the stage?
It's probably useless to say that the show starts mid-game. But we can use a bit of math and give you a window into when to start tuning.
The NFL game is split into 15 minutes, two before halftime, then two and four. The play clock stops and starts countless times, and play is interrupted by flags, commercial breaks and timeouts. However, the average NFL game lasts around three hours.
With kickoff set at 6:30pm ET, the halftime show will start between 8pm and 8:30pm.
The Super Bowl halftime show usually runs for 15 minutes, giving performers the opportunity to play some of the 12 songs. Normally, full tracks are not performed. Instead, viewers can usually expect a medley.
