2026 Super Bowl Sees Impressive Viewership
Viewership for the 2026 Super Bowl, while not breaking last year’s record, still reached an astounding average of 124.93 million as the Seahawks triumphed over the Patriots at Levi’s Stadium.
This figure includes viewers from NBC, Peacock, Telemundo, NBC Sports Digital, and NFL+, based on the same day’s final Nielsen ratings. This makes the game the second most-watched program in American history, as noted by NBC Sports.
The 2025 Super Bowl previously held the record for U.S. viewership, averaging about 127.71 million across various platforms like Fox and Tubi. It’s a bit interesting, I suppose, that there was a minor decline in 2026—about 2.2% lower than last year. But, in a twist, the broadcast achieved an all-time record of 137.8 million viewers during a peak moment between 7:45 PM and 8 PM ET in the second quarter.
Bad Bunny stole the show during halftime, attracting an audience of 128.2 million while performing some of his popular hits, alongside surprises and guest appearances from artists like Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
NBC is set to announce global audience figures for the halftime show soon. It’s quite the marketing feat, I guess. NBC Sports President, Rick Cordella, mentioned how the Super Bowl, alongside the Olympics, represents some of the most significant events globally, crediting production teams for their efforts in delivering these impressive broadcasts.
On the field, the Seahawks’ defense kept the Patriots largely ineffective, with Seattle taking an early 9-0 lead through three field goals in the first half. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that either team found the end zone.
