The Kansas City Chiefs selected Mecole Hardman in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He went on to help the Chiefs win two Super Bowls in his first four seasons in the NFL.

However, Hardman’s time in Kansas City appeared to end in 2023 when he signed a contract with the New York Jets. The receiver had a brief stint with the Jets, recording one catch for six yards in five games, before being sent back to the Chiefs in October in exchange for a future last-round draft pick.

The former Georgia Bulldogs star had two fumbles and one touchback in the Chiefs’ divisional-round game against the Buffalo Bills. He finished the game with one reception for two yards.

But Hardman shined on the biggest stage of all: Super Bowl VV.

With what ended up being the last play of the season, Hardman cemented his name in Super Bowl history. He caught a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes in overtime to give the Chiefs a 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

The text shows Patrick Mahomes’ confidence level before the big game: “I’m determined to win the Super Bowl.”

Hardman, now a three-time Super Bowl champion, is scheduled to hit the free agent market in March when the new league year begins. Hardman could resign from the Chiefs or consider other teams.

“I’ll see if they want me back,” Hardman said in a recent interview with NFL Total Access. “If not, it might be somewhere else, so let’s take a look.”

Even if Hardman were to leave Kansas City, he made it clear he has no interest in reuniting with the Jets. Mr. Hardman answered his question about the possibility of him returning to New York with an emphatic “no.” “I’m not going back to the Jets.”

The Chiefs’ upset over the Niners marked their second consecutive Super Bowl victory, but Mahomes already has his sights set on a third straight ring.

“Hey, it’s not over yet,” Mahomes was heard saying on the microphone as he celebrated the victory with his teammates and family. “I want three. No one has three. … I want them in a row.”
