NFL Selects Coco Jones for Super Bowl LX Performance

The NFL announced on Sunday that Coco Jones will perform the Black national anthem at Super Bowl LX, which is scheduled for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Jones, a talented singer, songwriter, and actress, is known for her roles in “Bel-Air” and “The Voice.” She released her debut album, “Why Not More?,” on April 25.

In addition to Jones, Charlie Puth will sing the national anthem, while Brandi Carlile is set to perform “America the Beautiful.”

John Barker, the NFL’s senior vice president of global event production, commented, “Sunday’s Super Bowl is the world’s biggest entertainment stage, and we’re proud to spotlight artists who represent the best in music and culture. Beyond the game itself, the Super Bowl is a global celebration. These artists bring a unique voice to the moment and help set the tone for a day that will captivate fans around the world.”

Jones joins the ranks of performers singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Fans have been pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of the Black national anthem since the NFL began featuring it in games. It has become a regular part of the opening game of the season and the Super Bowl since 2020.

Interestingly, Ledisi performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at Super Bowl LIX. The NFL incorporated the Black national anthem following the tragic death of George Floyd, which ignited a national conversation around racial injustice.

It’s worth noting that the NAACP has promoted “Lift Every Voice and Sing” as the Black national anthem since 1917.

In other highlights, Bad Bunny is set to perform during the halftime show, and anticipation is already building for his appearance.
