Pat McAfee to Host Alternate Super Bowl Broadcast
Pat McAfee is set to bring his unique touch to Super Bowl LXI in February, as he announced on Friday that he will host an alternate broadcast for the event via ESPN. The former NFL punter has become quite the media personality, and it looks like he’ll be replicating the style of his popular “Field Pass” broadcasts. You might recall he did something similar during this year’s college football national championship and will do so again in January.
It seems like McAfee is really making a name for himself this season. He’s also planning to provide similar broadcasts for selected “Monday Night Football” games as well. So, if you’re a fan, there’s plenty of McAfee to look forward to in the coming weeks.
This announcement comes just two days after Disney revealed that its streaming service, Disney+, will feature ESPN’s and ABC’s coverage of the Super Bowl. This marks the seventh consecutive year that the big game will be available via a streaming platform, a trend that started with Super Bowl LV.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that McAfee’s presence on ESPN has expanded recently; he joined the “Monday Night Countdown” pregame show and continues his full-time role on “College GameDay.” And, I mean, it’s clear that he’s been busy making waves in the sports media landscape.
This year’s Super Bowl will also see the return of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the booth after their last appearance during the 2020 championship when the Kansas City Chiefs took on the San Francisco 49ers.
Ah yes, and just to mark your calendars, the game is scheduled for Valentine’s Day.
