The Giants celebrated the franchise’s 100th anniversary on Thursday night, and current head coach Brian Daboll was in top form.
The head coach, who was accompanied by his wife Beth to the event at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden, looked especially slimmed down compared to the end of last season.
“New York Giants 100: An Night with the Legends” featured some of the franchise’s legendary notables, including Lawrence Taylor, Bill Parcells and Eli Manning.
During rookie minicamp last month, Daboll was asked why he was doing so well.
“I don’t know about that. It’s like throwing a chair off a yacht. That’s where I am,” said Davol, who has six children with Beth.
The reporter laughed and tried to explain: “Two chairs.”
Daboll acknowledged the amendment by agreeing to “two chairs” and ended the press conference.
Daboll previously said in a press conference that he and the rest of the team took part in a weight-loss challenge this offseason.
This is not the first time Daboll has had to go through a rigorous weight-cut before a season.
In June 2022, Daboll noted that he had effectively lost 30 pounds between taking over as Giants head coach in January and that point.
“I’ve lost about 50 pounds since that press conference,” Daboll told former Washington Post columnist Ian O’Connor, “but I’ve gained about 20 back in the last month of training.”
At that point, I wasn’t too confident that I would be able to maintain the weight once the season started.
“I was just trying to get it as low as I could, and then as soon as the season started it went right back up,” Daboll said.
Coach Daboll also mentioned a diet plan before last offseason.
Daboll, fresh off winning the Associated Press Coach of the Year award following his first season with the Giants, revealed his plans to watch the Super Bowl from his home in New Jersey.
“I’m going to sit down, eat a tray of nachos, drink a six-pack of beer, and then start dieting.” Daboll told The Post’s Paul Schwartz:.
