CDC Reports on Illnesses
The CDC has reported that 45 individuals in 21 states have been infected, with 12 requiring hospitalization due to the outbreak. These illnesses have occurred between August 22nd and December 30th.
States that have reported cases include Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin.
Fortunately, no fatalities have been linked to this particular supplement.
This dietary supplement was available for purchase online across various platforms, mainly on Live it Up’s website as well as on Amazon, eBay, and Walmart.
Symptoms of salmonella infection typically manifest within hours or days after consuming contaminated food. They can include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal discomfort. While most individuals recover fairly quickly, the infection may pose more serious risks to young children, elderly adults, and individuals with compromised immune systems.
The FDA is actively investigating other products that may have been consumed by the affected individuals and is working with state officials to gather samples of these potentially hazardous products. It appears there could be more product contamination linked to this situation.
