Military Shift Announced by War Secretary
During a speech to a large gathering of generals and admirals in Quantico, Virginia, War Secretary Pete Hegseth revealed a new strategy aimed at moving away from “woke” policies in the military.
Hegseth emphasized the necessity for higher standards in fitness and physical readiness. He also criticized what he called politically correct policies that, in his view, obstructed military personnel, particularly women, from accomplishing their missions. He specifically referred to “fat squads” and “fat generals” during his remarks.
Hegseth articulated, “Every service must ensure that all combat military occupational specialties meet the highest male standards.” He asserted that this is critical due to the life-or-death nature of military assignments.
Following the announcement, social media was abuzz with reactions.
Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer stated, “I’m Sec. Hegseth and 100% supportive. The greatest betrayal isn’t politics; it’s about ensuring that both men and women are not subjected to harm. Our freedom hinges on a capable, prepared military.”
Andrew Corvette, a spokesperson for Turning Point USA, commented, “It seems we’ve reached a point where we can no longer afford political correctness. We can’t allow weak warriors or overweight generals.”
Veteran Janet Garcia shared her experience, saying, “I was just 4’9” and around 135 pounds after my time in Afghanistan. We ran the brigade, and I remember meeting some heavier soldiers; they definitely lagged behind.”
Jim Hanson, president of World Strut, praised Hegseth’s speech, calling it one of the most motivating talks he had ever heard, emphasizing the need for a unified mission to lead the strongest military force to victory.
On a lighter note, some social media users joked about the speech. One remarked, “Hegseth really united the generals with a ‘fat-free’ address. Legend.” Another quipped, “The War Bureau seems to be aiming for the greatest Ozempic order in history.”
