Prime Minister Justin Trudeau donned a shark costume for Halloween, which some are playfully linking to his new girlfriend, Katy Perry, on social media.
The former prime minister took to social media on Friday, sharing a photo in a blue shark outfit alongside his youngest son, Hadrian, who dressed as an injured surfer.
“Ready for Halloween with Hadrian. He’s the surfer and I’m the shark (to his left),” Trudeau wrote on Instagram.
“We made a costume together. A bit of father-son Halloween teamwork. 🎃🦈🏄♂️,” he added.
Followers immediately pointed out the resemblance between Trudeau’s inflatable shark costume and Perry’s “Left Shark,” a backup dancer who became a viral sensation during her Super Bowl performance in 2015. The dancer’s quirky moves drew significant attention and laughs online during a performance of “Teenage Dream.”
One user remarked, “To his left 👏👏👏,” while another commented: “I’ll dress up as Katy Perry so we can pretend we’re together!” Another follower even asked, “Did you borrow the Left Shark costume?”
Rumors about their relationship began swirling in July when Perry, 41, and Trudeau were spotted together near Montreal’s Mount Royal Park before having dinner at Le Violon.
Trudeau was later seen enjoying a concert on Perry’s “Life Times” tour at the Bell Center in Montreal.
The speculation intensified in October after photos emerged of the couple kissing on a yacht, with Perry in a swimsuit and Trudeau shirtless.
The two went public with their romance on Perry’s 41st birthday, October 25, where they were seen holding hands at a cabaret show in Paris.
Perry made an impression in a striking red dress, while Trudeau chose a sleek black suit for the occasion.
Sources have indicated that Trudeau is quite taken with Perry. “He thinks she’s the perfect woman,” a source mentioned last month. They reportedly have a lot in common—discussing everything from politics to food to their children.
