Fundraising Efforts Surge for Family of Charlie Kirk Following His Assassination
In the wake of Wednesday’s tragic assassination, many Americans have come together to contribute millions through online platforms to support the family of Charlie Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA.
Kirk was killed at an event hosted by Turning Point USA at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
More than $3 million has been raised so far on platforms like GoFundMe and Gives Endgo by Kirk’s supporters nationwide.
Students from Utah Valley University, along with members of the university’s Turning Point USA chapter, played a key role in organizing one of the leading fundraising campaigns.
Additionally, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has initiated another fundraising campaign, aiming for $5 million. He has managed to gather nearly $2.9 million to date.
“Within hours of Charlie’s tragic death, friends and supporters set up the campaign,” said Heather Wilson, co-founder and co-CEO of Gives Endgo. “The rapid response shows just how deeply his life had impacted people and how urgent it was for them to support his family.”
“When tragedy strikes, giving becomes a tangible way to express love and solidarity,” she added.
“We even have a prayer button alongside the donation option, enabling those who can’t contribute financially to send hope and encouragement to his family.”
A spokesperson for GoFundMe echoed sentiments of sadness regarding Kirk’s family: “Our hearts go out to the Kirk family as they navigate this tragedy.”
“At GoFundMe, ensuring a safe and reliable platform for support is our top priority. Our team quickly reviews fundraisers linked to this shocking event to guarantee they are verified and that funds reach the intended recipients,” they concluded.
Vigils were held at Turning Point USA chapters across various college campuses on Wednesday night to honor Kirk. Hundreds turned out to pay their respects.
At a candlelight vigil on the Texas A&M campus, people—including some Democrats—came together to denounce political violence.
“Just five months ago, I was discussing Charlie Kirk right here, and now I’m staying up all night for him,” remarked one speaker. “I felt fortunate to have the chance to talk about someone like him. This isn’t just a political issue, it should matter to everyone. No matter our political differences, he leaves behind family and friends who need our prayers.”
The evening included prayers and live music from worship services.
Tonight, Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, is expected to make her first public statement following her husband’s assassination.
