Supreme Court Justice Accepted More Than $4,000 Worth of Concert Tickets From Bad Bunny's Record Company

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s Financial Disclosure

According to her 2025 financial disclosure, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor accepted over $4,000 in concert tickets from Rimas Entertainment, the label representing Bad Bunny.

The tickets, valued at $4,333, were described as a gift from Rimas Entertainment for “a concert for me and guests while I was on a private trip to Puerto Rico in August 2025,” Sotomayor noted. The specific artist is not mentioned, but it’s worth pointing out that Bad Bunny had a 30-day residency in San Juan around the same time, from July to September 2025.

Additionally, Sotomayor received $598 from the Coterie Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri. She explained that this amount covered her return airfare after a performance related to her children’s book, “Just Ask!” The musical was staged from January 29 to February 23, 2025, as per a press release.

Rimas Entertainment, established in 2014 by Noah Assad—who also manages Bad Bunny—has gained recognition in the music industry.

Bad Bunny, who performed entirely in Spanish at the Super LX halftime show in February 2026, seemed to clean his Instagram following that event. His selection for the halftime show stirred mixed reactions among fans. Notably, he made headlines during his acceptance speech at the 2026 Grammy Awards by declaring “ICE out.”

In response to Bad Bunny’s performance, Turning Point USA (TPUSA) organized an “All American Halftime Show” in October 2025, featuring Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. This rival show reportedly attracted up to 6.1 million concurrent viewers on its YouTube channel, as reported by the New York Times.

On another note, fellow justices Amy Coney Barrett, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Neil Gorsuch also made their 2025 financial disclosures public. Barrett reported nearly $850,000 in royalties from Javelin Group LLC for her publications. Gorsuch collected over $300,000 in royalties from HarperCollins Publishers LLC and Princeton University Press, based on his disclosure. Brown Jackson noted she received around $1.2 million in book advances from Penguin Random House.

The release of these disclosures occurred just before the Court made decisions on several significant cases, including issues related to birthright citizenship.

In a series of opinions released on a Tuesday, the court upheld birthright citizenship, maintained state laws preventing transgender individuals from competing on girls’ and women’s sports teams in public schools, and eliminated spending limits on political party coordination in federal elections.
