Surgeon Specializing in Sex Change Requested Epstein's Support for Innovative Transgender Documentary, Emails Reveal

Dr. Jess Ting’s Correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein

Recent documents released by the Department of Justice reveal that Dr. Jess Ting, a notable figure in “gender-affirming” medical procedures, expressed interest in visiting Jeffrey Epstein’s private island and sought funding for his upcoming documentary. This correspondence dates back to 2016, when Ting, now an assistant professor of surgery at Mount Sinai Health System in New York, shared information about his new transgender clinic via email.

In a rather enthusiastic tone, Ting mentioned that he had been invited to Epstein’s island by someone described as an “assistant.” While Ting has been with Mount Sinai since 2001, he has not been implicated in any of Epstein’s criminal activities.

In the same 2016 email, Ting shared news of his appointment as director of the Transgender Medicine and Surgery Program, highlighting that Mount Sinai was taking a leadership role in transgender health. He noted that the program was the first of its kind in the U.S., emphasizing its innovative approach to care and expressing a desire to create a documentary around it.

Moreover, Ting was known for performing the first transgender-related vaginoplasty at Mount Sinai, a procedure that involves significant surgical changes. In his message to Epstein, he sought support for the documentary, stating that he and the project team were eager to present it in person to Epstein, expressing optimism about its positive impact on the community.

The documentary, titled “Born to Be,” focuses on Ting’s experiences working with transgender patients, and while it was released in 2019, it’s unclear whether Epstein agreed to back it financially.

Additionally, Ting expressed gratitude to Epstein for a prior $50,000 donation to Mount Sinai that was reportedly intended for breast cancer research at Ting’s suggestion.

It’s worth noting that Epstein had a controversial past, having been convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008. His involvement with Ting occurred several years after that conviction. Epstein later died in custody in 2019, with authorities ruling his death a suicide.

An invitation for Ting to visit Epstein’s island came through a redacted associate, suggesting a day of leisure with the phrase, “Jeffrey wants you to enjoy a day on his island while on vacation.” Ting regarded this offer as “very generous” and seemed to arrange it, even considering taking friends and children along. However, there’s no concrete evidence that this trip happened.

These revelations about Ting’s communications with Epstein were uncovered as part of a broader release of documents by the Justice Department under the Epstein File Transparency Act.
