FedEx Driver Arrested for Stealing Packages in Louisiana

A FedEx driver in Louisiana has been arrested after authorities alleged he stole packages valued at tens of thousands of dollars, stashing them in a nearby storage facility.

On February 13, detectives from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office investigating a theft learned of a package that had not been delivered two days prior. Following up on the report, they identified 27-year-old Tyran Jackson as the suspect.

During a search of a storage unit on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge, investigators found around $62,000 worth of stolen FedEx items. It’s a bit astounding to think about—just how easy it might be to mistakenly trust someone with packages, only to have them stolen.

Police discovered that one of the missing packages was actually located inside the storage unit. The unit held a variety of merchandise, including Nike shoes and numerous cigar supplies, which the police later shared images of.

After cataloging the items, officers located Jackson and took him into custody. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office clarified they weren’t looking for other victims, pointing out that nearly all stolen packages were under FedEx’s care at the time of the incident and had subsequently been returned to the company.

Jackson was charged with grand larceny and is now facing legal consequences for his actions. FedEx emphasized in a statement that the safety of their customers’ packages is crucial and affirmed their cooperation with the ongoing investigation. Additionally, they confirmed that Jackson is no longer associated with the company.
