Surveillance video shows Cash App founder using knife to snort cocaine before death, defense alleges

Lawyers for the San Francisco murder suspect of Cash App founder Bob Lee played surveillance video during closing arguments in his murder trial that shows Lee using a knife to snort cocaine hours before his death. It is said that the video showed him doing the same thing.

Lawyers representing self-styled tech entrepreneur Nima Momeni said it was the same knife Lee used in April 2023 when he confronted a client with a bad joke, resulting in him attacking in self-defense. He later claimed that Mr. Lee had died. of stab wounds, According to KTVU.

Defense attorney Saam Zangeneh said Lee used a knife to “scoop and sniff” cocaine during a bender that ended in a struggle under the Bay Bridge, the station reported.

The case is scheduled to be heard by a jury on Wednesday.

In their closing argument on Monday, prosecutors said Momeni had heard that the tech tycoon introduced his sister to a drug dealer, who gave her GHB and other drugs and sexually assaulted her in his apartment. He said he planned the attack.

Momeni allegedly lured Lee to a secluded area near the Bay Bridge, stabbed her three times with a knife found in his sister's kitchen set, and then fled in his car.

If convicted, Momeni, 40, could be sentenced to 26 years in prison.

Later, other surveillance footage showed them getting out of the car near the Bay Bridge where the stabbing occurred.

Lee was found stumbling on a deserted street in downtown San Francisco at 2:30 a.m., dripping with blood and pleading for help. He later died at the hospital.

Momeni testified during the trial that he stopped his car near the Bay Bridge after driving over a pothole that caused Lee to spill the beer he was carrying.

“I made a bad joke. I said if it was my last night in town, I'd rather hang out with my family than hang out at a strip club. That pissed him off. He exploded. According to KRON, he went from zero to 100 angry right in front of me.

But prosecutors have scoffed at Mr Momeni's story, saying he never called police to report Mr Lee's alleged assault and that Mr Lee stabbed him on the street where they last met. He pointed out that he never reported the incident even after learning that he had died.
