Is There Hope for Single, Bitter Liberal Women?

Recent research from the Institute of Governance and Civic Studies at Florida State University suggests that there could still be some hope for single liberal women who, well, have strong feelings against conservatives, making dating seem unlikely.

The study indicates that, generally, liberal women become more receptive to dating conservative men as they age. However, this newfound openness might be in vain.

Interestingly, it seems that conservative men actually become less open to dating liberals as they grow older. A notable pattern appears among those who identify as highly liberal, particularly in more intimate situations. Many would prefer to engage with like-minded individuals instead of those with opposing political views.

The research implies that while there are young men who might hold conservative beliefs, they are not necessarily against dating liberals. They might have voted for Trump, but they can still be quite open-minded.

In contrast, a young liberal woman may automatically dismiss such a man as a potential partner, regardless of his political stance on various issues. This lack of nuance is troubling; some liberal women can be quite intolerant.

This intolerance could be why older conservative men tend to become more selective over time. How many relationships have withered due to political differences? Many conservative men have likely faced rejection for supporting certain conservative views, like limiting abortion to extreme cases. It’s worth pondering how common these rejections really are.

If a liberal woman finds herself single in her 30s and looking at conservative men, she might blame herself for incorporating politics into her dating life. She may wonder, “Where are all the good guys?” Yet, during her more politically charged younger years, she may have turned away from many decent potential partners.
