Survey: President Trump is viewed as the most admired Republican president, exceeding Reagan and Lincoln

Trump Tops Poll Among Republican Voters

Recent polling indicates that President Donald Trump is viewed by Republican voters as the most revered GOP president, surpassing both Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln. Over 50% of Republicans in a poll conducted by CNN and Social Science Research Solutions (SSRS) identified Trump as their top choice, while only 18% favored Reagan and 8% chose Lincoln.

Another survey from Elon University supported these findings, although with narrower margins. It showed that 29% of Republicans consider Trump the greatest U.S. president, followed closely by Lincoln at 25% and George Washington at 14%.

CNN’s chief data analyst, Harry Enten, described these results as a “reality check.” He pointed out that despite Trump’s relatively low approval ratings, he is still viewed as the central figure around which the GOP orbits.

This data highlights that Trump’s “America First” agenda continues to resonate with conservative voters, fostering a strong party unity that may prove vital as the GOP approaches the 2026 midterm elections.

CNN Statistician Harry Enten: “I just love this one. ‘The President Republicans most admire,’ it’s Donald Trump… A majority of Republicans, 53%, say [Donald Trump] is the Republican President they most admire. Ronald Reagan… Donald Trump nearly triples up on this… at just 18%.”
