Susan Sarandon Says Hollywood Hasn’t ‘Done the Cleanup’ Post-Weinstein

Actress Susan Sarandon says Hollywood hasn’t been “cleansed” in the years since the fall of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and the #MeToo movement that Hollywood launched.

“I don’t think we did the cleanup that we should have done,” Sarandon said. During a concert in the 90s panel.

Sarandon added that the spotlight should be on those who allowed Harvey Weinstein and others like him to remain in power.

“I don’t think people talk enough about how the people who supported and are still functioning the Harvey Weinstein family around the world have a similar responsibility,” she said.

Sarandon clarified that she was referring to people who still work in Hollywood. They “knew when to send people to hotels and didn’t pay attention if anyone complained.”

“It’s very confusing to be a young girl and know that your ability to survive is being checked based on your sexiness,” she said. “You know that, right? You know there’s something going on. They call it chemistry or whatever they want to call it. But that’s part of what you bring to the table. You. It exists whether you like it or not.”

Sarandon releases comment following actress’ remarks Mira Sorvino said: She says Harvey Weinstein “suffocated” her career after she won the 1996 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

“I stopped living as a movie actress,” Sorvino said.

Sarandon’s reputation took a downturn in 2023 following Hamas’ horrific attacks on Israel. She said: “There are a lot of people right now who are afraid of being Jewish, but they’re getting a taste of what it’s like to be Muslim in this country.”

After huge backlash, Sarandon apologized.
