Harrowing video shows the moment a thug with a metal rod beats a woman with a baby in a stroller on a Southern California street – just hours before the same assailant beats up a 60-year-old woman. Police say he was hit in the head.
A series of assaults occurred in Long Beach on Thursday, with one victim bleeding profusely from a head wound. The first incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. and was captured on surveillance video.
The footage showed the suspect running up to the woman, who was walking with her child, and hitting her in the back of the head with an “unknown object.” According to Long Beach Police.
The victim let out a heart-breaking scream and ran away pushing a stroller in fear. The woman was then taken to hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Fox11 reported.
Police said the child the woman was protecting was not injured.
“When I saw the video, I was really angry,” said neighbor Juan Rivas. told ABC 7. “I hope the police catch him. He needs to pay for it.”
Just before 12:30 p.m., 60-year-old Orla Ortega was walking near 21st Street and Pine Avenue in Long Beach, talking on the phone, when she passed an unknown man. know.
Ortega said he was suddenly hit in the back of the head with what he believed to be a pipe and felt blood draining from his neck.
“[I said] “Someone help me!” Ortega told the broadcaster, his injured head wrapped in a white bandage.
Long Beach police said they believe the perpetrator in both violent incidents is the same person.
The alleged attacker is described as a Hispanic man in his mid-20s, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7, with a peach-like mustache.
He was last seen wearing a white hat, a turquoise sweater over a black hooded sweater, blue pants, and black and white tennis shoes. He had a black bag hanging from his chest and his shoulder strap around his neck.
Police said they have stepped up patrols in the area where the women were attacked and are actively searching for the perpetrators.
