Porch Pirate Arrested in Alabama
Last week, a man suspected of stealing packages from porches was arrested in Mobile, Alabama, after surveillance footage captured him in the act. The suspect, Todd Anthony Bond, 46, was taken into custody on Friday when police released a video showing him, dressed in women’s clothing, stealing items from a home while arriving in a black Ford Escape.
Sgt. Ronnie Parsons from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office noted that the vehicle played a significant role in identifying the suspect. “One thing that stood out to us was the vehicle,” he mentioned, adding that they were keenly aware of the suspect’s appearance, especially with Halloween approaching. They debated whether the attire was a costume or just his regular clothing.
The video shows Bond pulling up to the house in broad daylight, smoking an e-cigarette, then approaching the front door dressed in a black top and a floral skirt. He was carrying several items he had taken from the porch.
Days after the theft, police spotted Bond in Grand Bay, where they executed a traffic stop to arrest him. Parsons indicated they had intelligence suggesting the suspects may have left the state, but they received tips pointing them back to Alabama.
Interestingly, even though the theft occurred days prior to his arrest, Bond was still sporting bleached hair and heavy makeup. Additional packages found in his vehicle were allegedly stolen from Mississippi.
Upon apprehending Bond, authorities discovered the original stolen package from Mobile in his vehicle. He now faces charges of first-degree theft and is being held at Metro Jail pending a bail hearing. As of now, no attorney has been located to represent him.
