A man wanted in a massive manhunt was shot by police and died in a dumpster Wednesday, law enforcement said.
Sean Christopher Davis shot and killed Deputy Jesus Vargas of the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office at a shopping center on Stella Link Road in Houston. Vargas was serving a warrant against the 56-year-old at the Dollar Tree around 11:30 a.m. that Tuesday.
The K-9 dog, named Rocky, was airlifted for treatment after being shot.
Davis was found by a K-9 dog, who alerted officers to a dumpster not far from the death scene. Davis shot and injured the dog before being shot and killed by police. According to To KHOU TV.
KHOU reports that the man has a lengthy criminal history, including charges of aggravated sexual assault of a teenage girl in April and aggravated assault charges out of Brazoria County in October.
Vargas was shot in the head by Davis as other members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force approached to serve the warrant.

“This afternoon, we lost a local hero. Deputy Sheriff Vargas of the Missouri County Sheriff's Office, who works with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, takes out repeat violent criminals on the streets here in Houston. He died trying to arrest him.” said Houston Mayor John Whitmire.
Vargas was a 17-year military veteran, married and had three children.
